Today's big question? do rabbits form social connections outside of their bonded groups, do they recognise family members after months apart? No.. well i'd hav...e agreed with you, untill today....
yesterday I picked up Freyja from a fellow fancier, she was bred by me (out of marrion, she's hatties litter sister) she had not seen the group of girls since she was 8 weeks old and taken off her mum, since then she has been shown, rehomed and lived with another fancier. I put her into a bottom hutch in my shed and when i let the girls out this morning, they followed me in as usual, but instead of eating the split hay, they all sat in front of fraya's hutch just looking at her...
marrion became very frantic pullingon the hutch doors and chewing the wood, I decided to do something rather risky (i shut hattie into the hutch with the babies so that freyja wouldnt have any access) and let her into the run with the girls... this is what happend.
Freyja has now been returned to her own hutch, but I plan on giving her a few hours out with the girls each day untill the babies are older and I can introduce her to the group full time
